Welcome to my blog. I am not
sure how you may have come to be here, but I am glad that you did.
As you can see, this is my
first blog post. I initially thought this would be a where I would share about
my adventures in solo travel, and maybe throw in a few travel hints and tips
that I have learnt along the way. Thus I came up with the name Solitary Sojourn.
As I started thinking about what I could write about, and what it meant to be a
Solitary Sojourner, I realised that it really describes my life as a whole. I
am 45 year old and perpetually single. I often have a small giggle to
myself when people write books or blogs about being a long-term single, only to
find they are only 23, are now happily married with 3 kids, or have serial
defacto relationships. I suppose someone who is 75 and single might be amused
at me describing myself as a long-term single, but I figure I am reasonably
qualified in writing about doing life solo. To be completely honest, my last
date was roughly around 2003 (I think...).
Anyway, this blog is not
intended to be a discussion of singleness or searching for a mate (as I am not
really), but rather, just jotting down thoughts on doing life solo, with a
great support cast of family and friends. I have bought and done work on 2
houses, work full-time as a midwife (yes, I know, a midwife without kids!),
travelled a fair bit, and am a proud-as-punch Aunty. These are things I want to
chat about.
You are more than welcome to
meander along this blogging journey with me, thus making it a little less
solitary, and a lot more fun.
Cheers,
